Friendly's - Not so Friendly?

Members of C.O.S.T. wanted to know why some Friendly's Restaurants allow smoking. They cater to children, yet they aren't protecting their health!!

We are upset that a local mall which is smokefree, allows smoking in the Friendly's restaurant! SO people who want to smoke in the mall smoke in Friendly's!!!!

When we contacted the corporate office, a representative said that their franchised restaurants could go smokefree if the owner choses, but the policy of the corporate owned Friendly's is to go "smoke free" when the town goes smokefree.

We say, "That's not good enough." Friendly's should follow Pizza Hut, McDonalds, as well as other chains that are smokefree!

In the fall of 2001, members of C.O.S.T. collected about 1,000 signatures on a petition asking Friendly's to protect its patrons by making all Friendly restaurants smokefree.

On November 15th a manager of a local Friendly's agreed to go smokefree for a day in honor of the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout. The manager said the event, which we publicized, was his "busiest ever". He would like to make the restaurant he manages smokefree everyday, but the corporate office won't let him. We think ALL Friendly's should protect our health by going Smokefree.
